Limitless Magnitude

“Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” - John 21:25

We have all heard the phrase, “You can’t put God in a box.” We say this to reaffirm the power of God. The question is do we believe this? As humans, we often try to limit God which causes us to lose the fear of the LORD (Proverbs 1:7). How quickly we forget everything the LORD has done in our lives. In life things happen that breed lies into our minds that make us start to question God. This typically happens because we have unbiblical expectations of God. In our minds we start to create boundaries for God and begin to not believe that he is able to do far more abundantly than all we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

Are you a purposeful person? We are designed to crave fulfilling a purpose. Often times though, we search far and wide to find our purpose but end up empty. That is why when we find our purpose and meaning in Jesus Christ everything changes. As we see in John 21:25 Jesus was on a mission. Throughout the book of John he constantly states his purpose is to do the will of the Father. He didn’t waste time, everything he did had a purpose and everything he said was purposeful.

Have you ever thought about the limitless magnitude of Jesus Christ? The size or extent of the Jesus’s life is limitless and it continues to multiply today. You can’t contain Jesus, he reaches the unreachable, he touches the untouchable. That is our God, our King, our Savior. Jesus continues to do things. Each and every day you walk through this world our God is at work in the lives of people. Not everything may be written down in books but it is written on hearts.

Today I encourage you to taste and see that the LORD is good (Psalm 34:8). Remember your personal experiences with Christ and watch and see Jesus working in the lives of people. Write down what you see, try to record what you see Jesus doing and you will start to see the limitless magnitude of God.

God Has No Problems, Only Plans

Do you ever look at your life and ask the question, “How in the world did I end up here?” Or maybe you are at the point in life and are saying, “God what in the world do you want me to do and where do you want me to go?” Often times when we look back on life we see the hand of God guiding and directing us to where we are now. God puts people in our lives for a reason and uses our circumstances to accomplish his purpose.

In 1 Samuel chapter 9 we see a man named Saul who one day goes out to look for his father’s lost donkeys. After searching far and wide they do not find the donkeys. As they were about to depart for home Saul’s servant suggests talking to the man of God in the town which was Samuel. God put Saul and Samuel in the right place at the right time. God is always at work changing lives and working out his plan for his glory. Are you at a crossroad in life? Are you wondering why you are in the situation you are in or why you “just happened” to cross paths with certain people? There is no "just happened" in God’s economy, there is only a sovereign plan by an Almighty God who is in control.

Many times God uses the simple to do the extraordinary. Everything does happen for a reason. Today allow God to guide you, direct you, and lead you. Pray to your Creator, give him your cares, worries, doubts, and allow the peace that passes all understanding to guard your heart and mind. When you surrender the steering wheel of your life to God that is when the real journey begins. Enjoy the ride.

Power, Passion, & Purpose

Do you walk with your head up or down? Do you walk around with power, passion, and purpose?

Often times I catch myself with my head down. Many times I forget.

I forget that if our God is for us who can be against us?

I forget that our God is stronger and higher than any other

I forget that our God is the healer and redeemer of the broken and the lost

I forget that he is the life changer

I forget that he is living water and the bread of life

I forget that our God is all powerful

I forget that our God loves us unconditionally

I forget that I am His.

Have you forgotten?

Over lunch today I was encouraged. I was listening to a guy who hasn't forgotten. He was walking in the power, passion, and purpose of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was taking the attacks of Satan head on with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit. It wasn't easy but there was the power or Christ in his life. His passion and purpose proved it.

I don't usually write prayers but I want to leave you with one today. Don't let the enemy win the battles in your mind and in your life. Use the power and truth that God has given you.

"God, I am your child. You are my father. I thank you for that relationship. I pray that I realize this truth and embrace it. I pray that I would walk in your power today. That you would give me a passion for the name of Jesus Christ. As it talks about in Acts 4, I pray that people would take note that I have been with Jesus. That my life would reflect and lead people to you Lord. I thank you for the power over sin and death that the cross accomplished for me. Give me an eternal perspective and a passion to fulfill my purpose in Christ. May your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Titles

Do you like titles? I like titles. Titles always try to encapsulate a movie, person, book, etc. in a few short words. Do you have a title? What would be the few short words that encapsulates who you are? I think you can find out a lot about someone by there title. I also think titles help us remember our purpose and who we are. I have thought about this awhile and for me personally, I like the title "Torchbearer of Jesus Christ." I want to always be a light for Jesus everywhere I go.

So hopefully you are thinking about what your title may be or what you want it to be. I think this leads to deeper questions or more important questions to wrestle with like, "what is your legacy?" or "What do people associate with your name?" You see, everywhere we go, whether we like it or not, every person that knows your name associates character with it. Think for second about a few people you may know. When you think of their name you can probably instantly identify with their character. You can think about what you like about them or not like. In your head you can say they are nice, mean, rude, polite, caring, selfish, and the list could go on and on. I think this is important to realize because we have an opportunity as Christians to be light to a dark world each and everyday and our title is very important. If I want my title (Legacy) to be a torchbearer of Jesus Christ I need to make sure I am living up to that.

I love the story in Acts 17 where Paul and Silas are out preaching the gospel and doing amazing things for the kingdom of God. When they came to Thessalonica Paul preached for three Sabbath days about Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. The Jews became jealous and were trying to have Paul and Silas killed. It is very interesting though that in verse 6 in the English Standard Version they referred to Paul and Silas as "men who have turned the world upside down." How awesome is that, to be know as the people who turned the world upside down for Jesus Christ. I think many times in life we forget our purpose, we constantly try to find purpose in drugs, alcohol, jobs, money, careers, relationships, etc. and we live defeated lives. I know the days that I wake up and remember I am a child of God whom he has set apart to be a "torchbearer for Jesus Christ" I find it easier to walk in the fullness of my purpose.

I pray that you would take time today and reflect, spend some quality and quantity time with God and in His word. When we make God a priority with our lives he becomes a priority in our lives and we can't wait to spend time with him.
